Deviation Actions
The Ticked Off Project is all about Senior Members of the Community, with interviews and features on the illustrious deviants who are adorned with a shiny `, it went awhile for awhile, but now it's back and ready to rock! This is our chance to connect with some of our senior members and give them a chance to show everyone at dA what makes them tick.
This week, I talked to YukiMizuno, who has been a member fof dA for 6 years. She’s a jack of all trades; you’ll find everything from literature to photography and LOTS of love for Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy! Check out her gallery here!
The Aspie GirlIt was a somewhat peaceful, summer morning weekend here in the little community of Peach Creek as we zoom in on one of the neighborhoods; the Peach Creek Cul-De-Sac. And in the second house on the right of the entrance, that’s where we start this story. We see a figure in his room, sleeping in his circular-shaped bed. He was a thirteen boy that seemed to be just a smidge too short for his age and had only three, long strands of dark blue hair on his head.
His name is Eddy Wendell. He was starting to wake up from his slumber, stretching a little as he did; he showed his dark, foggy blue orbs. Eddy noticed what time it was now; seven o’clock. He made a little smirk to himself; time to think of a scam for the kids to fall for.
Eddy then proceeded to get himself dressed for the day without any hassle on time. He wore a yellow t-shirt that went right to his waistline. The shirt had a purple collar and a red stripe coming down the right side of his shirt. He wore baggy blue jeans w
What brought you to dA?
Well, I was on a Kingdom Hearts forum for a while before I joined here. It was when I noticed in the fanart section of the forum that I noticed some of the people had deviantART accounts. So, I looked to see what the site was about. It wasn’t until a little later on that I decided to join as YukiMizuno. The rest is a little bit of history.
<b<What are your top 3 favorite deviations from other artists? Why do you like them?</b>
Hmm, that’s a hard question, because I’m a fave-o-holic. Well, maybe I can do my all-time [recent] favorites…
by Hail-NekoYasha
I love her comics that she’s posted here on dA, and this is one of them. It does make you wonder though; what is under a Diglett and Dugtrio? And if this version isn’t true, why didn’t the creator think of something to put under it in the first place…? Plot-hole, I say! Also, the artist doesn’t update her dA anymore (sadly… ), but she does have a website that she continues to update her comics on; Awkward Zombie! www.awkwardzombie.com/

Her whole gallery is full of awesomeness and creative ideas (and mostly fanart, but that’s what I mostly like, so… ). I picked this one because of the funny faces. Plus Geno’s ‘Zzzz…’ face is a whole load of win; makes me laugh. She also created a EEnE comic about Werewolves called Night-of-the-Were-Ed. Click the group to read the comic. It’s awesome.

Getting off track of the fanarts I featured above… This animation he did is very good; I like it a lot because it is a simple animation with a simple statement.
How have you grown as an artist since joining dA?
I think I’ve grown a lot better in thinking of ideas for my fanfics (or just trying to draw more often) since I joined… I can’t think of how though.
deviantART isn’t just about art – it’s about community, too. Why do you think it’s important for seniors especially to give back?
I think seniors in general should try to give back to the community whenever they can. They should set an example to the rest of the =, * and ~, to show them how and why they gained their tick marks…
Your gallery seems to cover all ends of the artistic spectrum – Literature, photography, digital art, animation – Which medium is your favorite?
I love to write a lot of fanfics (or just writing in general), so I go with Literature. Though I need to fave more lit things on dA… Kind of sad that I don’t do that as often as I should.
How do you think having a hand in several different mediums shapes your work?
I think it’s good to be savvy in different art areas because, if you want to get into an art college or something, you’re going to have to be flexible in what you do. But, what do I know? I don’t go to an art college… but I think it’s good to venture into different areas of art.
I see a ton of awesome stamps in your gallery – how did you get started designing them?
Well, I did a few stamps to support some past GM’s, but quit for a while because there were too many to do. But then SparkLum had a journal about stamp requests once to make support stamps to whoever commented on that particular journal. He did one for me and my real life friend HeartlessMar, but since there was a limit on how many you could request, I thought, “Hmm… Maybe I should just do some for my favorite people on dA?” So, I did some for my favorite EEnE artists and others. And then I decided to just do what SparkLum did; do a support stamp request journal. Not many people have applied, but that’s because I haven’t updated it. I need to get back to that…
Stamps aren’t very popular on many other websites - why do you think they’re so popular on dA?
I think they’re popular on dA because of the thumbs system dA has for subscribers; plus there’s a special feeling that you can put any kind of message in a 99x56 stamp… I think. XD
I loved the mug project you did that benefited Autism Alabama (my little sister is autistic so, it means a lot!) – how did you get involved with the program?
Well, I have Aspergers myself, so I just wanted to do something that could help out my local Austim program. I sort of took the idea from someone else’s project that they did for their local Breast Cancer center… Of course, I asked the person permission before I did it. XD
Will you ever do it again? I want a mug!
Sure! I want to do it again. I just need to find the font I did it in again… I lost the font when I had a virus on my computer.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned – art or otherwise – in the past year?
Never stop believing in your own style, even if you change it up a lot. Same thing goes to writing too. XD
Quick! There’s just enough time for a Sailor Moon question! Why do you identify with Sailor Mercury? Do you have a favorite piece of Sailor Moon fanart?
Haha, I think I identify myself with Sailor Mercury a lot because we’re both so nerdy, even though I’m not as smart as she is… XD
As for a favorite Sailor Moon art? I found this a while back, and I thought it was so funny.
There’s also this crossover (or should I say crossdressing? ) picture I suggested for a DD, and it got it.
Anything else going on you want to tell people about before we say farewell?
Hmm, yeah I do have something to say; Kami-Con is coming up in my town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama in February! If you want to come, or want more information about it, go to their website… www.kamicon.net/ … or their official dA page; Kami-Con! I made the group, but I’m involved with the production… the people in the Co-Founders are the ones that actually run the show.
Photo-a-day Challenges
Hey everyone - I've been participating in a "Photo-a-day Challenge" on Instagram and I'm hooked. The idea (for those who haven't ever seen or participated in one) is that you get a list of words and each day you take a photo that corresponds to that word. It sounds kinda lame, but it's really fun. Today's word was "Simple" so I took a picture of my socks, because wearing crazy socks is one of my simple pleasures in life. So, what kind of words would you include if you were going to write a photo-a-day challenge? Leave me a short list in the comments - I'm interested to see what you guys come up with!
Lilith Progress
So last week I announced that I'd be bringing Lilith to Comikaze Expo, and in the past week of made some (very minor) progress. The wig is still in route to me, but once it gets here the real adventure begins because I plan to Sharpie dye it by hand. That's right, kids, I'll be coloring each and every strand on the wig with my own little hands. There are certainly other methods that would be easier, but Lilith's hair has a very particular fade to it and it's the one element of the costume I don't think I've seen anyone nail. Now, I'm sure there's a reason for that, and maybe I'll find halfway through the process that it's a total bitch and no
My next cosplay project will be...
Lilith from Borderlands! All the way back in January, I listed Lilith as one of my planned cosplays for this year, and after much debate, I've decide to finally tackle her for Comikaze Expo in September. It's funny because I'd actually had her scheduled for this convention since the beginning of the year, but I got the itch to do another Bulma outfit and thought I'd replace her with Motocross Bulma, but with Borderlands coming out around the same time, it seems only appropriate to do it then. Motocross Bulma will just have to wait.
I'm really excited to get started on this costume because it has all sorts of unique challenges. I've actually
Own a Piece of Comic-con 2012!
Hello, Comic-Con (https://www.deviantart.com/comic-con)! We can’t believe Comic-con 2012 is already behind us. It seems like just yesterday that we were in a planning frenzy for the big event. If you attended the event and stopped by the deviantART booth, you probably noticed the snazzy shirts our staff was wearing. You may also have seen said snazzy shirts all around the convention, because every artist in Artists’ Alley was given one! If you saw that shirt and thought “Where can I get one?!” OR If you weren’t lucky enough to attend, but would like to keep the spirit of Comic-con alive year-round, check out our new Comic-con t-shirts in the
